KCFO (Korea Association for Chief Financial Officers) was established in Feb. 1st, 2002 by the authorization of Ministry of Finance & Economy for the object of “Maximizing Corporate Value by Strengthening CFO’s Role and Responsibility” with founding member firms including Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, LG Electronics, POSCO, Korea Telecom, SK Telecom, Korea Stock Exchange, PWC Korea, Deloitte Korea, BCG, Korea Economic Daily, Shinhan Bank, Kookmin Bank, Samsung Life Insurance, etc. KCFO is tied up with AFP(Association for Financial Professionals, USA), IAFEI, and IGTA(International Group of Treasury Association).
With the mission of “Networking, Knowledge, Advocacy, and Ethical Leadership”, KCFO holds CFO Forum, conference, and monthly seminar to address key issues and timely appropriate topics facing CFO profession. To highlight the importance of the role and responsibility of CFO, we organize ‘CFO Award Judging Committee’ which screens CFOs from all listed companies and announce the best CFOs in public through the press and award ‘The Best CFO Prize’, and we publish quarterly journal “CFO” since April 2003 and non-periodical finance research papers.
KCFO has incubated XBRL(eXtensible Business Report Language) Korea as the facilitator and developed XBRL taxonomy for public disclosure of corporate financial information according to Korean GAAP and international standard specification in 2004. XBRL is the international technology standard for electronic public disclosure system, which was developed by AICPA since 1999.
